Two Sides Of Online Friends

Hello everyone! For this post, I'm going to talk about the good and bad online friends I've come to know about. These people are those whom had a impact in my life, in the good and bad way.

The good ones 

Let's name this person L. L was a person who would've gone the extra mile for me, be it online or offline. An example was during the year of my major exams, I was on the verge of retaining as I didn't go to school due to my addiction to online games. Despite her schedule, she forced me to study and coached me in my work via MSN. Thanks to her, I managed to pull through. Up to today I'm still in contact with her, and still very grateful to her.

The bad ones
Like L, I had another online friend named K. I was slightly closer to her than L due to many common interests, and I met her offline with my older sister for the annual Anime Festival Asia(AFA). While walking around the booths, I saw K slipping an item into her bag while the shopkeeper was distracted. When my sister asked K about it, she replied her in a nonchalant tone. At that moment I realised that I should try to cut ties with her, as she'll probably affect me in the long run.

You may be thinking that I was heartless towards K, but it's all about choice. As the people say, "Don't judge a book by it's cover." As you're online, you'll never know what they actually do offline. If you think that that person is going to have a negative impact on you, then the better choice is to stay away from them. Don't be upset about losing a friend, as there's bound to be many others like my friend L around. 

There's always two sides of an issue, and online friends are one of them. Which side do you want to choose? it's up to you.

How I Made New Online Friends!

Whats Up Folks!

Hi there! Hows your day? has it been good so far? :) Its good to be back writing again! Today I am going to share my one experience with online friends. 

Recently, I started writing on this phone blogging app called 'Dayre'. It is somewhat like writing a diary plus blogging. I write about my day to day activities, my feelings, my adventures and more. Its as if I'm writing my very own diary! So I started using the the app by following some of my secondary school friends who were already using it by the time I joined.

Through the app, I interacted with some of my secondary schoolmates which didn't really get to know back then. we didn't have the chance to interact back in my secondary school as we were from different classes and didn't have much contact with each other but now they're my online friends!

Interacting with another friend

Friends online doesn't mean they are not as good as offline friends! Both types of friends have their pros and cons. As long as you stay alert, moderate yourself well and do not share confidential details especially to complete strangers, making friends online can be a fun and fresh experience too! With that, I shall end off my post today!

Online friends

Hello everyone! I'm Deborah, the other author besides JiaLiang. Today I'm going to talk about making friends online. Being young and "fearless" at that time, I didn't know the dangers of making online friends.

Internet friends 

Instead of using social media at that time, I was playing online games. It was boring just playing alone, so I made a bunch of good friends in the process. 

do I find them trustworthy?

Personally, I think that online and offline friends doesn't have much of a difference, and online friends could be as good as offline friends as well.

As quoted from JiaLiang's post : "it can be dangerous as you may not know if the person you are chatting and befriending with may be someone that has ulterior motives for chatting with you."

Online friends aren't entirely dangerous, it's just that you have to be wary of the people around you and make a choice from there. Trust the ones you've known for a long time (a few years), not those that you've just come to know of. 

I'd like to end today's post with a personal thought :

"Be it good or bad friend, no matter what happens it's a life lesson you're supposed to learn from." 

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and thus even if something bad happens within the process I would learn from that lesson, and will not repeat the same mistake again.

Hi There! How are you doing? Today, I am going to touch on the topic of the Dangers On The Internet and how it can affect you. Enjoy!

Danger On The Internet!

The internet is a excellent to make friends but if you are not careful when making friends and interacting with people on the internet, the internet can turn out to be a very dangerous place. One excellent example of potential dangers on the internet is, Sexual Predators.

Danger! Sexual Predators

As you are online, the other party is unable to see you, which means that you are also unable to see the other party. Based on this, it can be dangerous as you may not know if the person you are chatting and befriending with may be someone that has ulterior motives for chatting with you. 

"About 1 in 7 kids have been sexually solicited online, says John Shehan, CyberTipline program manager for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia."

Sexual predators tend to target children that are in chat rooms. However, due to social media evolving at a rapid speed, sexual predators now target children on social media. This becomes extremely easy to prey on young children as social media profiles contains their personal information and photos.

I am sure you use social media to interact with you friends. By using such platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, You are having fun with your friends and online followers. However at the same time, You are opening a door for potential online sexual predators to harass and even hard you. 

But do not worry! As long as you use the internet cautiously and in moderation, the internet can still be a wonderful place to make new friends and interact with new people! So always make sure that you are on your guard whenever you are on the internet and beware always look out for potential dangers! That way, you will be able to enjoy yourself on the internet.
